Tables of 4

Play Ludo online with friends

Ludo Sprint is two-dice Naija Ludo played on your phone with friends and family, wherever they are in the world. It keeps the house rules you know, a 6 to come out and a double six to roll again, but adds a clock, so the player with the most seeds home when time is up takes the table. Expect shouting when somebody sends your seed back to base.

How Ludo Sprint plays on Game Room

  1. The host adds Ludo Sprint to the night on gameroomnaija.com. Players join from the code or link with just a name.
  2. When the game starts, Game Room seats everyone at tables of up to four, each with their own colour.
  3. On your turn, tap to roll two dice. Game Room does the rolling, so nobody can argue about the dice.
  4. Use each die on any seed: choose a die, then the seed it should move. You can use both dice on the same seed.
  5. You have 25 seconds per turn. If time runs out, your turn passes.
  6. The game runs against the host's clock. When time is up, each table is ranked by seeds home.

The rules

  • You roll two dice each turn and use each one on any seed.
  • A die showing 6 brings a seed out of base onto your start square.
  • Roll a double six and you roll again. Three double sixes in a row and your turn is burned.
  • Land on an opponent's seed and it goes back to base, except on a star square, where seeds are safe.
  • You need the exact number to get a seed home.
  • If none of your seeds can use a die, the turn passes on.
  • Get all four seeds home and you finish the table first.
  • At time up, players are ranked by seeds home, then by how far their seeds have travelled.
  • Points by place: 1st at a table of four earns 1,000, 2nd 750, 3rd 500 and 4th 250.

Tips to win

  • The clock is everything. A seed home is worth more than a seed sitting halfway, so push seeds to the finish.
  • Park on star squares when an opponent is close behind you.
  • Split your dice wisely: one die to capture and one to escape is often better than moving one seed far.
  • Do not leave seeds sitting just in front of an opponent's start square.
  • If you are ahead with time running down, play safe. If you are behind, go hunting.
