Everyone at once, laptop recommended

Speed typing game: race your friends

Speed Typing shows everyone the same short passage and races you to type it exactly. It is not just about speed: only words typed correctly in the right place count. A laptop helps, but there is always one person who wins on their phone with two thumbs.

How Speed Typing plays on Game Room

1. Join from the host's link. A laptop is recommended, but a phone works too.
2. A short passage appears on screen for everyone at once.
3. Type it exactly as shown, then send it.
4. You have up to 35 seconds per passage.
5. After each passage, Game Room reveals the text and the fastest speed in the room.
6. Your speed across the round decides your points.

The rules

• Only words typed exactly right and in the right position count.
• Extra spaces between words do not matter.
• You have 35 seconds per passage.
• Your score is correct words per minute, worked out over every passage in the round.
• The fastest player in the room earns 1,000 points, and everyone else gets a share based on their speed compared to the fastest.
• Sending earlier improves your speed, as long as the words are right.

Tips to win

• Accuracy first. A missed word is a lost word, so do not race ahead with typos.
• Read a few words ahead of where you are typing.
• If you are on a laptop, sit properly and use both hands. It makes a real difference.
• Watch capital letters and punctuation. A word must match exactly to count.
